EMBASSY OF GHANA IN ISRAEL

Ghana on the 29th of January, 2020 signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of the State of Israel. This took place during the 2020 CyberTech held in Tel Aviv from the 28th to 30th January 2020.

The Minister for Communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP), led the Ghanaian delegation to participate in the event. The delegation was made up of representatives from the National Cyber Security Center, the National Communications Authority, the National Information Technology Agency and members of the Ghanaian Business community.

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful on behalf of the Republic of Ghana signed the first MoU for cooperation between the two countries in the coordination of Cybersecurity. The MoU recognized that the proper functioning and security of the digital environment, including the Internet, as being essential to the functioning of economies and societies and the stimulation of growth, innovation, well-being and inclusiveness. The MoU highlighted the role of both public and private organisations in managing cyber security risks as well as the pivotal role of government in developing and deploying policy measures, tools, and regulatory and operational responses for cyber-security risks;

The Minister signed a second MoU with the State of Israel on cooperation in the fields of Telecommunications, Post and Information Technologies. Both countries agreed on the basis of equity, reciprocity and mutual benefit to develop telecommunications and postal services between them in accordance with the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), as well as other related conventions.
